handy sucker

This handy sucker takes a pad and pen. I leave one in the car and one in my bag.

MORE new wallets lookin’ for homes!

Got two new Squires in stock for those that are in the mood. These are pretty cool, one  - Squire 4 - is off the hook… I dont know what i was thinking, but i like it! Beader blade cuts, all kinds of coloration and airbrushing madness…who knows what bee was in my bonnet. Of [...]

alligator pocket wallet

The new pocket wallets with the Duckbill Designs clips are the shit folks - these moneyclips are the very best I’ve seen - ever!! Bundled up with a pocket wallet - you’re covered! Pocket Wallets are available in a few different types/styles of leather.
About exotic skins….If you have a skin you want to use, let [...]

pocket wallets

Teamed up with the new Duckbill Designs money clip, these steveb units kick ass. No need to carry a full wallet anymore - unless you absolutely carry a ton of shit.

Leatherman & Maglite innovation!!

Truth be told, i didn’t come up with the idea…actually Fast Eddie made something like this which was the inspiration. I saw his construct in Sturgis last year and had been meaning to do something like it since.  Well, I finally got around to it, and after rigorous testing, I have to admit - this piece is ready for prime time… come and get ‘em!! [...]

Fred’s Fin

Fred wanted a fin. we started off discussing some Steal Your Face Grateful Dead theme. I said, “sure Fred, we can do that, but why - it’s been done a million times”. We wound up with this idea - a pretty crazy stamped up the wazoo textured Fin wallet with a nice stainless chain and [...]

Ralph’s knife sheath

Ralph wanted a sheath made for a brand new moderately fancy folder he had just gotten. He wanted it black, he wanted it “fat end towards the bottom and he wanted a lightning bolt applied to it. No problem for this 4 or 5 time returning customer. Simple clean and small, it cam out nice. Thanks Ralph, I appreciate [...]

dash pouch lesson

I dont make alot of stuff for myself. Most of what i wear and use is prototype work, usually it is a little rough design and detail wise ..a work still in progress. I usually try something new at the same time  that i am working out a new design - a new material,  a new piece of hardware, a new dye, etc - so really [...]

Jeb’s sheath and the devilish details

Good personal friend Jeb had a nice blade he wanted a hi-ride sheath for. Made this for him. Came out sweet, cool colors, funky sheath backing that holds tight to a belt,  real good cam lock that holds the blade tight, even if upside down or grabbed by someone else. if you going to wear a vest or [...]

Putting February to bed…

Got a quick video rundown of some of the work that been going on, and a reason to honor lux interior, singer of the Cramps, a man who died just recently.
The Cramps, mmm….saw them a few times, and Lux always put on a show. Only guy that ever looked good in plastic..lol. The soundtrack for this is courtesy of the Cramps, so…turn [...]

DJL Squire Wallet - from the archives

Yea Yea, enough rantin’ and ravin’ about the grave injustices of the world I say, back to Leather!!
So, I dont make alot of Squire wallets. Seems most folks want the Fin or the Super Squire. The poor Squire is kind of the neglected kid in the steveb leatherwork fam damily.  For this unit I was [...]

Cuffs? Too weird?

I used to make alot of cuffs for folks. Que Pasa, my old friend, likes cuffs to support his meatloaf sized paws when he is playing bass in his band Taboo, a Santana cover band. I used to wear them when i road tripped on the FXR, along with ear plugs and a Home Depot weight lifters belt. [...]

Shamrock super squire…aging like a champ

Once a piece of work leaves the shop, I generally never see it again. I’ve learned to get over it. I don’t have a problem with my “children” needing to run free with their rightful owners. LIke a parent that needs to let the kids leave the roost, so I must say “later” to my [...]

broke in

Leather looks best when it gets a beating.. kinda like the crackly look of a bar brawlers face after 40 yrs. of boozing….(like that huh?)…it just gets better and more dramatic - it toughens up.
In my experience, Veg Tan leather tends to break in to a specific point pretty quickly - and then it tends to stay  at that point for awhile…like…years, as [...]

scrapp’y kind of skull

Freewheel’d a skull over a cuppa joe recently
No scrap goes-a-wastin’ in the shop
4″ square called out for attention
Tough to freestyle with the swivel knife, it’s a fighter
Fun stuff, i prevailed - crude, but then…perfect
Feels good to turn scraps to trash

ha - in an effort to trim word count…should i write in gringo haiku form?
