The Baskety Boy: Slipper Wallet for cards
These are unique, one of a kind wallets, made of great quality American-tanned veg tan and I’ve treated it in my own special way – it feels good in the hand. The Baskety Boy has a really deep basketweave pattern hand stamped into it a cool red/mahogany/black fade dye job going on…
My customers have asked me time and time again to come up with a wallet, a card case, something simple, that’s not a big deal to make, that I can sell for less than triple digits. Not everyone digs having a money clip I’ve come to learn and a lot of guys and gals just want a slip case they can stick a few credit cards, license and a few business cards into. They wanted something that feels good to carry in front or back pocket and that has some “steveb” style to it.
I’ve seen things like this and for the most part what I’ve seen looks like die cut crap that could be (and probably was) machine made – no character, no soul- plain leather, with none of the flourishes (and inconsistencies) you’d expect if a person with two-hands made it.
Well, I don’t do mass production and I am not interested in die-cutting my designs. You don’t want that, I don’t want that and so I started experimenting and came up with I think will make everyone happy. The Slipper!
I call these wallet units – slipper wallets. You can slip cards in and out and it slips simply into your pocket – and its of a heavy enough leather so I can stamp it deeply and it feels good in the hand (and pocket)). in this first series of 7, each has my signature red thread showing through on it’s front. The colors are my usual kooky blends and fades – that will get mellow and interesting as they age.
Made from 6oz veg-tan leather and lined on one side (on the inside) with a patch of suede to add some substance and provide a point of friction for the cards you carry these are tough and good looking. each one is different. It measures 4″ long and 2.75 inches wide.
Of all of the things I make, these types of things are probably the most handy and useful. I carry mine everyday – when I don’t to use or need a money clip. The slipper wallet hold 6 credit cards, your license a few business cards.
if you are looking for a full size wallet, or something similar to the Slipper Wallet with a tough money clip built in I make those too – that’s the Pocket Wallet. I fabricate a few styles of full size, “biker style” chain wallets. I also make knife and tool sheaths, phone and PDA cases from heavy weight vegetable tanned cowhide.

I’ve made guitar straps, leashes and wristbands – all with a different look and design as your commonly used to seeing – so if you’re looking for something you don’t see, ask. I am always up for a challenge, within reason.
I also make belts, tough belts that will last a lifetime – and if you re so inclined, I invite you to read through all the granular details in my steveb.biz guestbook
