Flamin’ Squire from the archives
One from the old archives, a sweet custom Squire -unusual in that the customer asked me to NOT include a chain. Horizontal flamage from front to back, cool coloration and a multi-material interior. Nice!

Fred wanted a fin. we started off discussing some Steal Your Face Grateful Dead theme. I said, “sure Fred, we can do that, but why – it’s been done a million times”. We wound up with this idea – a pretty crazy stamped up the wazoo textured Fin wallet with a nice stainless chain and […]

dash pouch lesson
I dont make alot of stuff for myself. Most of what i wear and use is prototype work, usually it is a little rough design and detail wise ..a work still in progress. I usually try something new at the same time that i am working out a new design – a new material, a new piece of hardware, a new dye, etc – so really […]

So….I’ve got to thank and pay props to my customers…they rock..they keep the steveb globlal freight train rolling down the highway under full steam. shrinkage
Shrinkage – the word hasn’t been the same since that fateful Seinfeld episode. But in this instance the shrinkage I am referring to is of the vegetable tanned leather type – the type of leather that i favor for my work… veg tan leather shrinks if it is not sealed up tight to moisture. The only problem with sealing leather, is basically your turning […]

visit to the 2009 International Motorcycle Show.pt1
Went to the IMS show on Friday in NYC. I was thinking that the plane that used the Hudson as a runway the night before, might cause a bit of travel hardship if i were inclined to take my car, so a smarter, more sensisble head prevailed and i took the train down to NYC. The weather has been a […]

skiving is in the details
Thinning out a piece of leather (skiving) is a common and important chore when making something that needs to blend, or blend. Leather is not one of those things you can just bend sharply and not expect it to crack, so you need to skive. I have a few blades that can skive, you’ve already met the Mighty […]
