Function: it’s not BS
If you ride a motorcycle, you need to know the stuff you carry, the items you wear – as well as the bike you ride – are all rock solid. If you want some really well made, nicely designed and unique leather items to wear on your person – take a look at what is […]

Ride to Northern Vermont
Jason and his crew needed an adult chaperone to take them through CT, MA and VT -and so enlisted the services of yours truly. We ate copious amounts of BBQ’d meat, we drank just a modest number of adult beverages, it was a grand time and a great ride.

NYC style
This gent was showing consummate class slicing and dicing his way through NYC mid day blech. Watching him cut through the clutter was a bit unnerving – it was obvious no one around him saw him coming…I dont know, it always seemed so dangerous to me, being on a quiet, stealthy bike in a traffic […]

Ha – let me take this moment to show a little ass here and relay a foe pah that happened back in May when I attended the SmokeOut, I thought I’d try out some digital chicanery and auto-publish. Well, I screwed it up and the same post sat for a week. Well, i know better […]

before school
Some folks talk about “old school” – but what about the guys that wrote the damn book…i mean these rocks are truly…in every sense of the word, pre-school. along these lines, I met an experienced rider some time back, he was a good guy, chatty and eager to tell a story. I think he said he has […]

visiting friends
Pupkin and I went and visited the Greek the other day. The trip is a southbound 2hr slog through the NYC/NJ urban sprawl – which we made is surprisingly good time, flying the entire way (and if you’ve ever travelled with the two of us, i do mean flying)..with nary a lick of traffic – quite amazing. To boot, […]

Vista Store
Want to pay props to the Vista market for their outstanding beer selection. I am surrounded by all manner of “lick her” stores” an for the most part – they all suck. I am sure they are good stores, but I don’t drink much but beer these days – and their beer selections stink. They vary in […]

Happening’s in Cali
Trying to keep me knowledgeable on a national scale, my friends and readers send me info about all sorts of cool local happenings. I tend to be pretty much focussed on what is happening in line of sight from the end of my nose and the East Coast in particular, so these missives really help and I thank all […]

Tasty Trumpet for a sunny, summery Friday
Here’s a tasty bit for your Friday! Ran across this red headed cutie. I love the older British bike look… spindly frames, massive drum brakes with vents, tight, small complex-but precise leak prone gadgetry… very cool. Maintaining anything more than 60mph for an hour on a stock bike will exhaust both rider and machine – so they aren’t really […]

on his own terms
Saw this bike parked in the morning and then out sweeping corners later in the day. The owner, obviously not a newbie cleaned and neatened up his VTX to be quite a respectable low buck custom hot-rod. Nice job.

bustin out
Shank, Pupkin and I busted out for the first time as a team a few weeks ago. Ran up to Huckleberry, it felt real good although Shank reminded us with fairings to hide behind and electric coats to swaddle our baby soft bodies – that it was kinda cold. I hear ya Shank – time […]

co-minglers
Co-mingling and getting along…works. Here we’ve got a a prettied up Street Glide squatting next to a stealth black something-or-other Japanese rocket bike outside a local gym… both parked illegally on the sidewalk. Flashing a unified show of “i dont give a crap, I’ll park wherever i damn well please” and a bit o’ the dark black…on […]

quick Sunday ride to Georgetown
People talk about what makes a biker. Or more to the point they talk about what a biker isn’t. Most of this jaw-flappin’ is for the sake of divisiveness. People love to categorize, they like to exclude. they like to rate, they like to compare and contrast. We are all guilty of it… we draw the lines in the […]

December 1st – a day to ride!
Sitting here with a full stomach, visiting relatives on Xmas day with snow on the ground, it feels like the last time i was on a bike was a year ago. Looking at the shots on my camera, i must admit that this is not wholly true. Only 24 days ago Shank, Dan-o and me […]

Road Tripping …1993 style
15 years ago doesn’t seem all that long from a numerical standpoint. But the truth is that 15yrs is a helluva long time, in a lot of other ways…. looking at these old shots from a memorable road trip of long ago reminds me of that. Pupkin, Gonzo and me headed up to the wild […]

Fall Fission
A week or so ago three of us busted out for a quick ride up to squirrel country and had a chance to view the last of Fall’s optimists in action. Going to get down in the low 30’s tonight and i think these idyllic 2008 moments will be rare from here on out. In […]
