Hi friends, fans, leatherworkers, and browsers…it’s been a while since I checked in here and I thought now would be a good time since I’ve got some stuff in the works that will require homes.
This post is about “totes”. Totes are those handy as hell bags that people carry to transport anything from groceries to laptop to gym stuff. Commuters live out of their totes and they really are key pieces of kit for the modern worker/person. Women especially seem to favor totes.
So, Ive made a couple to date. I’ve learned a bunch, mostly that they are a shit ton of work to produce and need alot of fine detailing to really stand out. They also need to be heavy duty and these two babies definetly are that – heavy duty!
These two are made from fantastic leather, super comfy handles, doubled up bottoms, sewn, riveted in all stress points and glued. These bags are heavy duty, make no mistake,. I am actually considering posting their weight only because if your looking for a lightweight unit – this ain’t gonna be it.
Problem is, every single one of the ones I’ve made to date has found a home before I really got to photograph them and so, i am trying to get one or two of these in the hands of people that are NOT friends and family, ha!
You will be able to find them in my ETSY store when I am done finessing them into their optimal state…
As always – thanks for your interest and ongoing support.
The Good Shepherd instrument strap is 55″ long and made of tough 8-10oz veg tan leather that I’ve lined with natural finish veg tan, I’ve sewn all the pieces together with blue white thread.
The front strap (thick part that goes from the front of your instrument to over your shoulder ) measures 2″ wide x 35″ long. The strap has about 4-5″ inches of play in it, so if you tell me the longest you wear a strap and the shortest, I haven’t punched any holes in it, so I can set it up to accommodate your requirements. The rear strap is 2″ wide and has a badass patina’d brass buckle holding it to the main strap.
If this doesn’t make sense and I am writing Swahili, just email me, I’ll try harder!
This strap is really a heavy duty beauty, it’ll last lifetimes and I will set it up with schaller style strap locks – you tell me – nickel finish or black.
This is the shit for a bass player, but since i don’t discriminate, I’d say it it’ll also kick butt for a 6-stringer!

The Crusher is a one custom, one-off belt, ready to be tailored to your waist measurements – around the brass buckle pictured. I will tailor the belt to your size, before it is shipped to you. the buckle is attached to a col billet with a coin concho i’ve made.
The Crusher has a wild deep brown, light brown kind of coloration. It is very cool, very different and kind of subtle in a uniquely obvious way- it also has my usual black edge and yellow thread..this is a heavy duty belt, made from 12oz Domestically tanned leather.! Badassedness personified, it be cool!
The Crusher has a cool keeper , that holds the tip of the belt (the billet) that has matching yellow thread. The penny that helps hold on the buckle end of the belt is a 1966 vintage. The buckle end is a wack blue/oxblood mashup.
This belt has been cut from the very best domestically made 12oz (very thick), vegetable tanned leather. The belt is lined with mission grain pigskin and stitched with domestically sourced Yellow nylon thread, giving it a resilience to stretching, sweating and wear. I use only the best dyes, hardware and threads – and a ton of information is available on my web site.

DETAILS of this belt:
The Crusher is 1.75″ wide, the buckle is a really well made domestic, custom oxidized brass buckle. OR – I can use your own buckle if it will accept a thick 1.75″ belt billet… I attach the buckle with Chicago screws so if you ever want to change up the buckle on your own, you’ll be able to.
I also make knife and tool sheaths from heavy weight vegetable tanned cowhide. I’ve made guitar straps, leashes and wristbands – all with a different look and design as your commonly used to seeing. If you’re looking for something you don’t see, ask. I am always up for a challenge, within reason.
The Pugster is made of tough 8-10oz veg tan leather that I’ve lined with some really black chrome tan leather from Langlitz Leather – tough and comfy. Ive stitched it with 277 red thread and the rear strap has two coin conchos on the buckle billet, to attach to the rear of the front strap.
The beautiful nickel plated brass buckle is a solidly made sweetie domestically made !
The front strap (thick part that goes from the front of your instrument to over your shoulder ) measures 3″ wide x 45″ long. The rear strap measures 1.75″ wide (with a taper to 1″ on either end) by 24+” long. The strap has about 4-5″ inches of play in it, so if you tell me the longest you wear a strap and the shortest, I haven’t punched any holes in the strap, so I can set up that rear strap to accommodate your requirements (with 5″ ).

The Short Timer Super Junior Squire is a Super Squire wallet with a beautiful deep mahogany/strawberry coloration, a black edge and white top thread.. .. a unique and defining characteristic of my work.
This Super Squire measures 6. long and 4″ at its widest point. There are stitched patch pockets made of pigskin in the Squire that can handle most of the “card-age” you need to carry. There are my half moon dollar organizers on one side and the lining is deerskin that i dyed in a kooky colorful pattern.
The design on this wallet is sweet – meander border design, there is a snap closure that holds it tightly closed with a 1972 era penny snap closure made by your truly. Its not set up for a chain, but it can be if you’d like.
This is a beauty of a journal cover with a new journal placed inside so you can hit the next meeting in great style.
The penny snap closure is of a 1980 vintage.
The brown leather, is a super interesting, top grain, pull up chrome tan – really different and shows every mark.
It has chrome tan pockets inside to hold the journal.
The thread is purple.
The snap is a birdcage snap that has a real nice feel to it and isnt tall, like a conventional snap is.
The journal cover is for a normal, standard size journal
What is this?
its a long bone wallet – inspired by the ATL, OG himself
the long bone is a big wallet. it holds a lot of stuff.
This is a unique, one of a kind unit.
Its made of great American-tanned chrome tan leather, the very same leather used by Langlitz, in the manufacture of their amazing garments.
This is a wallet that can hold all of the cards, bills and paper that is associated with modern life., with a bit of “steveb” style to it. The wallet is comfortable, lightweight and flexible. it fits in a jeans pocket (a portion sticks above the pocket).
This is the Poodly Toots Knipper.
It’s a collaboration.
The Sheath is made by me, the beautiful blade, by Terry Knipscheid, a super talented and wonderful man, located in MN.
The whole shebangy is about 5.5″ long – its truly a Knipper
I had this idea for a EDC – every day carry -sized blade and knew of Terry through some work he’d done for me (making me some work blades), so we got to talking and this was the result.
This is the The Flaming Steez Knipper.
It’s a collaboration.

The steel on the Knipper is the usual killer stuff that Terry uses..
I don’t have anymore tech info that that, but can get it if you want… or you can go use Dr. Google yourself.
The scales on the blade is black Micarta, beautiful and durable.
Checkit peeps – the Steez sheath & tool is a one-of-a-kind custom sheath case partnered up with a brand new Leatherman (the best) Rebar tool (also the best of their offering).
This steezy ass sheath/case is made from the best, domestically made and sourced materials, by hand, by yours truly. The Steez sheath & tool is a serious piece of utility and fashion, that sure as hell will stand the test of time.
I used a piece of 6oz veg tan in the front, and the back portion is made from 10oz -very substantial – and reasonably beefy – not overboard. Everything I make is lined, and this is no exception, its lined with mission grain pigskin, sewn with American sourced thread, on an American made sewing machine.
Did you read “the Adventures of Eloise” as a kid? Well if you didn’t have that distinct pleasure as s child growing up, your life sucked.. take it from me..lol. If you don’t know what I am peeping, just go check it out ya malook! I grew up with Eloise, Ferdinand the Bull, Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin and Curious George, and yeah, my sister too. But honestly, I transported myself to the Plaza with Eloise and her friends many a reading time. TV was a thing for after dinner when I was growing up and my Mom was a huge reader, so she trained my sister and I to be big readers too, to be happy in that place between your ears, using your brain to tell the story…. and what a gift it has proven to be.
So what the fuck am I carrying on about? I don’t know really. I just like the old shit I guess. Anyway, back to the Skipper Dee..

The bag you are looking at is the second of a series of bags that I am making.
This tote bag measures: 18″ wide x 12″ high x 5.75″ wide – perfect for a daily carry bag.
Each one is unique and bespoke. I will not make another like this.
I had ladies in mind when I designed this tote, but a guy could use it too, no reason he couldn’t.
I am branching out and bringing my look and ideas to some other daily carry things, like this tote bag. I made one for my case manager and she has really loved it, and it has gotten her a ton of comments whenever shes take it out – which is every day. She’s spilled coffee in hers and it didn’t do squat – and it’ll be the same here.
Each one of these bags is designed individually, its classic, comfortable. The handles are tuwo ply veg tan/ chrome tan, glued and stitched with Poly thread
This is a bag you can stuff with a sweater, lunch, a pair of shoes, a thermos crap and carry comfortably. The bottom is doubled up 12oz leather and a plastic sheet is laminated inside to give it that extra stiffness you need. The green closure strap allow the bag to be expanded and still securely close. The rivets used are enhanced by using contrasting washers
Carry a 1970’s era Fender Jazz Bass on your shoulder for any length of time sand you will understand just how important that key interface between body and instrument is. I’ve tried everything from weebly nylon crap straps, giveaways and stuff like that. I’ve bought fancy straps, only to be disappointed in how flambly they were. So I designed my own, and it is comfy, looks great, has some serious heft and lucky for you – it needs a home.
I am branching out and bringing my look and ideas to some other daily carry things, like this brief bag
Each one is designed individually, specially for that owner – but most are riffs off of this theme.
its classic, comfortable and it works, equally well for Men or Women.. depending on color and hardware.
This brief bag will handle a light laptop, iPad, keys and some other things, like phone chargers.
This is not a bag you stuff to the gills with crap and toss in the trunk.
We all like to travel light sometimes – maybe to a meeting, and this is the perfect bag to toss your writing journal, iPad, Mac Air and keys into. I can adjust the size to make you happy and to fit anything specific you might need.
I provide both a hand and shoulder strap. The strap is great if you plan on doing some walking- its very comfy and a piece of art. The strap and handle use simple, strong brass clasps and solid D-rings to attach to the bag. The inside of the bag is a single compartment with a small business card pocket, sewn to one side that has pen loops. This is a comfy bag to carry
The front flap uses a unique, classy closure and is lined with deerskin.
The journal cover is for a normal, standard size journal (this is from Staples)
Really a top notch piece of work. Just solid. This thing will last a lifetime. Many thanks!
This is what I like to hear!!
The leashicle is used for attaching a wallet to a pair of pants without using a metal chain… a nice alternative to the rattles associated with chain use!
